Perry is Perry is a Chicago native, she was born into Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Perry. The role of Jackie Harris was played by her mother in both the two episodes she appeared on Roseanne. But her parents would not allow her to act until she turned an adult due to the effects stress would affect their child. Perry said that she was shy to act in high school but began acting in theater classes at Northwestern University as a way to make friends after transferring to the university from Boston University. Perry managed to get minor TV roles in Law & Order: Criminal Intent when she finished her degree. However, her homesickness brought her back to California again where she began to work in the stage. The Other Place was performed by her mother and her on Broadway in 2013 In the year 2015, she was with Kevin McKidd alongside her mother in Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize-winning Drama Anna Christie. It is part of the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble is located in West Los Angeles. Perry appeared in 9 episodes of ABC's thriller The Family during 2016. In 2017 she had an recurring role in The ABC Political thriller Scandal with her father. That same year she appeared as a younger version of Mary Cooper on Young Sheldon (a CBS spinoff The Big Bang Theory) in which she played her mother as a young version. She got the part in an audition that was open despite being a fan of this role.
