Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco (born Angela Maria Ani DiFranco) is an American as well as a Canadian singer-songwriter. Her catalog includes more than twenty albums. DiFranco's music has been classified as folk and alternative rock although it includes influence from hip music and jazz. The widely regarded feminist icon Grammy award winner Ani DiFranco is considered to be the father of the DIY movement being one of the pioneers to establish her own record label in 1990. DiFranco was born on the 23rd of September, 1970 in Buffalo New York. Her parents were Elizabeth (Ross), from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as well as Dante Americo DiFranco. Her father was of Italian roots and her mother was born in Montreal. Ani Difrasco wrote and recorded the track "32 Flavors". The song debuted on her 1995 sixth studio album Not a Pretty Girl. The soundtrack to 1999's Canadian romantic film Better Than Chocolate is a version of the song. DiFranco apologized in 2013, following the revelation that it emerged that she had set up a three-day workshop at an Louisiana plantation. The workshop was cancelled, but she didn't show any regret. DiFranco released a new apology days afterward. Her name is associated with her Little Folksinger songs, however she's worked with many artists and genres that range from Pete Seeger to Chuck D. The place she lives is New Orleans. Ani was born Kristen Ford. She began writing songs around the age of 14. She sang them in bars and coffee shops throughout her teens. DiFranco was enrolled in Buffalo State College when she was sixteen aged. She earned her degree from in the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts at that age.
